Darra Bennett at Calgary Core Physio is fantastic. Recently I was in an accident in the USA while on a business trip. I received x-rays and a preliminary diagnosis in Santa Monica (a couple of painful but non-displaced fractures) with instructions to follow-up with my GP once back in Calgary to determine the treatment protocol. I arrived home knowing I needed additional x-rays etc. but dreading the length of time it would take to get proper referrals etc. I attempted to go to emergency but after nearly 6 hours of being triaged behind people with more acute needs than mine I gave up. My GP was booked for the next 2 weeks and there was no way to get a requisition for an x-ray without seeing him. At least, that is what I thought. Then I called Darra at Calgary Core Physio. He saw me the next morning. We discussed the symptoms and his assessment was later proven to be 100% correct. He requested x-rays and that afternoon x-rays were completed. This immediately removed some stress that I was feeling about the injury. I later met with my GP for confirmation of the treatment but by that time we were 2 weeks into the healing process. I continued the rehab process with Darra and I am writing this review because I would recommend him without reservation (I have recommended him to personal friends and family since.) He is very knowledgable (especially about those symptoms that are confusing to decipher and seem unconnected to each other) - - I believe it is important to have healthcare advisors who have a wide and varied knowledge... I give Calgary Core Physio a 5/5. Brad Merkley and Timothy Lee are life savers! - I’m a 26 year old male who is very active and goes to the gym 3-4 times a week. Unfortunately, 2 years ago while I was doing squats, I threw out my lower back. I decided to go see a chiropractor to help my back pain. - The first thing I did was go onto the internet and search in google for the best chiropractors in town with the best reviews. I stumbled upon a company, which had outstanding reviews. A few days later, I went in for my initial assessment. The dr. told me that he wanted to take an x-ray of my lower back to see what is wrong, which seemed very plausible. I returned a few days later after my x-ray and the Dr. told me that I had early degenerative disc disease in my (L5-S1). He claimed it was from a post traumatic impact, but ultimately it was hard to pin-point the exact reason for my degeneration (but I never had a serious impact on my back). He also informed me that the jelly would never regenerate and that it would only get worse (He said “I'm glad you saw me, because in a few years you would be in real trouble). He said that he wanted to make a manual manipulation (chiropractic cracking) plan for my back. He said come, 4 visits (1 week) + 3 visits (2 week) + 2 visits (3 weeks) + 1 visits (4 weeks). He guaranteed after the treatment I would feel better and my back wouldn’t degenerate more. Also, they said if I paid the whole amount up front I would get a discount, rather than paying session to session. After the few months of treatment, I still wasn’t feeling better. Now get this, at the end of my treatments he told me that I need to see him once a month for the REST OF MY LIFE or my back would begin to degenerate again! Immediately I was concerned and wanted another opinion. - I went to another chiropractor and he told me that this Dr. actually used scare tactics. He told me that if you took 100 people maybe 20% would have DDD, but no pain! So ultimately, its all about pain and try to not worry about the DDD. - However, all he did was the same thing as the last doctor which was manipulation (cracking) - Over the past 2 years, I’ve went to the top rated google back rehabilitation businesses (chiropractors, caleo specialists, naturopaths, osteopaths, other physio-therapists). o They all say the exact same thing, “that I need to strengthen my core to help support my back” o I’ve literally spent thousands on treatment and nothing works. Everyone at each clinic is very nice and it’s hard to get frustrated at them. But, enough is enough. If it’s not working why go continue to go there. - After 2 years of chronic back pain I stumbled across Calgary Core Physio! I’ve been seeing Brad/Tim for approx. 5 months and my back is almost at 100% and some days I don’t even notice my back. However, flares up do occur every now and then. o The MAT technique w/ dry needling Brad uses is a life saver. - All the previous Dr.’s recommended that I need to strengthen my core (even the spine surgery specialist). I was doing 2+ min planks (side + normal) every day and still nothing. Brad is literally a life saver and showed me that I need to learn how to move again!! Not bending my back for 2+ years because I was scared to re-injure made me very immobile. o Brad was always very detailed and always showed me what was happening, so I could see for myself. o He never rushed me out if I had questions and if we ran a bit late it was okay. o He honestly just wanted to help my situation and if he felt I didn’t need the treatment he would advise me vs. spending more unnecessary money. He understood the position I was in. I have bills, etc to pay and this additional cost was really hurting my finances o Brad showed me how to move again!! and also showed me how to lift properly - All I can say is, if you have had chronic back pain and have seen everyone (all tell you the same stuff) go see Brad or Tim. - Brad does my MAT + Needling and Tim does my needling as well

I've seen Brad now for 4 sessions and am so happy with the results and progress we've made. After 10+ years of aching, horrible knee pain (on and off), I finally feel like it's under control - he's been so great with diagnosis and treatment and has provided me the tools I need to strengthen the muscles in said leg again.

I have been a client of Timothy Lee’s for almost a year. In that time, Tim has worked on a severe dislocated (subluxed) rib, a ripped hamstring, as well as a dislocated finger. (Without him I would be a mess!) Tim has been the most knowledgeable and informative specialist I’ve ever met. Not only does Tim properly asses and treat my injuries; he has also provided me with detailed exercises and advice on home treatment. I trust his judgment. What I really appreciate about Tim is that he answers my barrage of questions at each visit and I have gained a lot of knowledge about maintaining and being proactive about my health. Last, the Core Therapy staff are so pleasant and welcoming. On my second visit, they knew me by name and took the time to ask a few questions and get to know me which is above any expectations I had of any professional’s office. I would recommend Tim and his team to anyone looking to assess and heal injuries for the long term.

Elliot Goldman is a knowledgeable and professional physiotherapist. He really knows what he is doing. He diagnosed the source of my problem and gave me very good exercise / advice / referral. He has monitored me during progress and using my feedback to improve exercise. The front office staff is also very friendly and professional. I'm very grateful for Elliott care and I highly recommend Elliott.
